FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We're Here to Help
What is an elective prenatal ultrasound?
We offer elective 2D, 3D, and 4D prenatal ultrasounds designed to enhance bonding between the parents, family members, and your unborn baby. These ultrasounds provide detailed, realistic images that help build a connection. It’s recommended that you have already had a medical diagnostic ultrasound to assess fetal development, confirm gestational age, and check for any anomalies.
Does this replace the ultrasound at my doctor’s office?
Absolutely not! Our elective prenatal ultrasounds are not a substitute for the diagnostic ultrasounds conducted by your healthcare provider. You should already be receiving prenatal care from your doctor and have completed a diagnostic ultrasound to confirm your due date, screen for anomalies, and address any pregnancy-related issues. Our service is purely elective and only confirms the presence of a heartbeat, without substituting for any medical diagnostic ultrasound.
Is it safe? Are there any risks to me or my baby?
Over the past 35 years, extensive research has shown that ultrasound poses no harm to mothers or babies. Routine scans are standard practice in the U.S., and 3D/4D ultrasound uses the same type and intensity of sound waves as traditional 2D scanning. This technology, similar to radar, is used to create images by emitting sound waves and capturing their echoes. 4D ultrasound involves the same safety standards as conventional scans.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are required for all our services.
Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby?
While we strive to provide beautiful images, results can vary. Factors such as gestational age, amniotic fluid levels, maternal obesity, and if your baby is facing your spine can affect the quality of the images. We’ll discuss any issues and available options if the scan proves challenging.
Can I bring family and friends?
Absolutely! We encourage you to share this joyous experience with family and friends. It’s a special moment that can be enjoyed with your loved ones.
Can you determine the baby’s sex?
In most cases, we can indicate the baby’s sex, but we cannot guarantee it. Factors like fetal position, body tissue, and developmental stage can affect our ability to determine the sex accurately.
Is this ultrasound covered by insurance?
Currently, our elective ultrasounds are not covered by insurance. As this procedure is elective and not a replacement for your medical ultrasound, it is considered an out-of-pocket expense. We accept cash, Mastercard, and Visa.
Do you have a return visit policy?
Yes! If the ultrasound technician is unable to obtain any images for the session, one additional scan can be scheduled within two weeks of the original appointment as deemed appropriate by the Ultrasound Technician. The additional scan may be offered at the discretion of the ultrasound technician.
